Nuova Sabatini grant: a startup incentive for innovative companies in Italy

Italy’s Nuova Sabatini scheme is designed to make cutting-edge investment more accessible to new and small enterprises, particularly those focusing on advanced machinery, technology upgrades, and research and development. Under the current regulations, businesses can apply for subsidized loans covering up to 80 percent of eligible investments, paired with an interest rate contribution by the Italian government. This effectively reduces borrowing costs and frees up capital for growth activities.

To qualify, a company must be newly established or in operation for fewer than five years, with a clear project plan demonstrating technological innovation or efficiency improvements. Eligible assets include industrial machinery, IT systems, and prototype development. The application process begins by submitting project documentation to the Invitalia portal, followed by bank approval of the financing. Once approved, companies enter into a loan agreement and can commence the acquisition of equipment.
